Solvias – The Story So Far

Solvias’ unparalleled experience and state-of-the-art services are founded on our long history of involvement in the pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and fine chemicals sectors. This is where our expertise emerged from.

It all began in the former Ciba-Geigy as part of the central research services. After the merger with Sandoz, we operated as a scientific "competence center" for Novartis. The turning point came with the management buy-out in 1999, a symbol of the management’s belief in the future of the company.

In 2009 Solvias consolidated the majority if its operations at a new site and headquarters in Kaiseraugst (near Basel, Switzerland).

International expansion was accelerated in 2013 with the acquisition of Confarma AG, together with its subsidiary in France (Confarma France SAS), providing direct access to the European Union market.

Solvias operates as an independent private company. The majority of the voting rights are held by the management team.

Looking ahead
Solvias will respond to the exciting challenges ahead and continue its committment to support the research and development of drug substances and the optimization of manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences companies worldwide.
